9.4. Editing a Branch

You can edit a branch only if you have the "Manage Sites and Branches" permission.

9.4.1. Edit the Active Branch

  1. Click the "active branch" indicator in the Perforce Chronicle toolbar.
    The branch popup menu appears:
  2. Click Edit Live Branch. Note that "Live" is the active branch in this example. The Edit Branch dialog appears:
  3. Revise the branch configuration as required. Details on branch configuration can be found in Section 9.4.3, “Branch Configuration Details”.
  4. Click Save. The branch configuration is updated, and the currently displayed page is reloaded.

9.4.2. Edit Any Branch

  1. Click the "active branch" indicator in the Perforce Chronicle toolbar.
    The branch popup menu appears:
  2. Click Manage Branches. The Sites and Branches screen appears.
  3. Scroll through the available branches to locate the branch you wish to edit.
  4. Click the button in the Actions column in the row containing the branch you wish to edit.
  5. Select the Edit option in the popup menu.
    The Edit Branch dialog is displayed.
  6. Revise the branch configuration as required. Details on branch configuration can be found in Section 9.4.3, “Branch Configuration Details”.
  7. Click Save. The Sites and Branches screen is redisplayed, listing your updated branch.

9.4.3. Branch Configuration Details

Name
An identifier for this branch. We recommend that you try to make these unique to assist with identification. Valid characters include letters, numbers, dashes, underscores, spaces, and periods.
Site
Select the site to which this branch should belong. Note: This field is only visible when adding a branch via the management datagrid. Once a branch is created, it cannot be moved into another site.
Branch From or Parent Branch
Select the source or "parent" branch providing the basis for the content in this branch. Note: This field is only visible for user-created branches. The Live branch cannot have a parent branch.
Description
A description of the branch that can be seen in the Sites and Branches screen.
Branch Address
A list of URLs for which this branch will be served. This feature becomes effective with configuration changes in the web server, and may require DNS updates.
